sometimes when im just playing with friends and theres a chance were gonna chill afterwards, ill just wear normal shoes
if he doesnt have golf shoes, im guessing hes not uber serious at golfing and wont NEED that extra grippyness from the soft spikes
sneakers will work
if your in a wet area that received rainfall recently, preferably a pair he can throw in the washer or wont mind if they get muddy
