We have all seen those beginner Golfers come to play a round on your favorite course or on a course you pay a good amount of money a year to be a member of.  How do we notice them?  Well their jeans and t-shirt can be a dead giveaway even before they generate a queue of unhappy golfers behind them on the first tee whilst they are all waiting impatiently for the beginner to hit the damn ball.

Everyone has to start somewhere right?  We have all been there at some stage, all be it a long time ago.  Well the one tip I would offer any would be golfer is to get their apparel right.  Wearing the correct attire for the golf course is an essential if you want to build rapport with the other players and respect the golfing etiquette.  So the next question is what is the correct etiquette when it comes to golf clothing?

Trousers / Shorts

Cotton trousers or shorts are a must for any wannabe golfer.  There are many kinds of designs from the conservative choice to something a little more outrageous.  Trousers and shorts are used in golf over jeans and tracksuit bottoms, as they are not only more comfortable to play the sport in when compared to jeans, it is also classed as a gentleman’s sport (and ladies) therefore is played in clothing to suit these ideals.

Shirt/ T-shirt

Again in order to look like a pro the best tops to wear are shirts or t-shirts (obviously a coat is fine in the rain and there is also a great range of golf jackets and umbrellas are also available).  You will notice that again in the case of most golf clothes there are very few large brands on display.  A small logo on the shirt, t-shirt or polo shirt is the norm.

Shoes

There are a great range of gold shoes out there as trainers are not ideal footwear for the golf course.  Gold shoes are usually studded in order to assist with the different conditions you may meet on the course as well as to assist you get the best out of your game.

Accessories

For the keener golfer there are also many accessories you can choose from including a golf glove, golf caps, golf hats, umbrellas, socks, wrist bands and many more.

Remember that golf not only requires lots of practice in order to become skilful at the game, it is also a psychological battle against your competitors and yourself.  Purchasing the correct golf attire can help you feel more like a pro therefore can only assist in improving your game.
